Project: Chrysocyon brachyurus is the largest canid species in South America and the fourth largest in the world. In the present study we aimed to increase the knowledge on the ecology of the species in the wild. The project has been carried out since 2002 in northeastern Argentina and aims to investigate the effects of anthropogenic landscape change on the habitat use and abundance of C. brachyurus. At the same time, we seek to identify and propose conservation actions to minimise the effect of threats at local and regional level.
