ResourcesParental care, den attendance and pup behavior in Pampas foxes (Pseudalopex gymnocercus) in rural areas of the Argentine Pampas

Project:

Although the Pampas fox is the most common canid throughout most of its distribution range, the knowledge on its social behavior is still scarce. This project aims to understand parental care and denning behavior in Pampas foxes during the pup rearing season. We are using behavioural observation of free-ranging foxes in a rural area of Buenos Aires province to study parental attendance and direct care, as well as pup behavior patterns at natal dens. Additionally, we conducted research to characterize dens and their use in relation to social groups and environmental factors. The project is carried out by GECM (Grupo de Ecología Comportamental de Mamíferos), UNS.
